On Tuesday 16 October 2018, two railway freight wagons crashed into the locomotive of a freight train in the Bettembourg railroad yard.

The accident, which occurred at around 20:30, saw the two wagons hit the freight train which was waiting to depart for its destination of Woippy, France.

The CFL and SNCF officials immediately got in touch following this accident and are continuing to collaborate closely to understand the facts. A detailed investigation is currently underway and results from the first analyses have ruled out any technical problems.

In the meantime, the CFL and SNCF have taken immediate precautionary measures. As the incident took place beyond normal rail traffic, it had no impact on passenger traffic.
