Logistics-provider Dachser will be making an appearance at this year’s LogiMAT, taking place in Stuttgart from 13-15 March.

At the Dachser booth (Hall 6, Booth D20), contract logistics managers will be explaining how the company is connecting digital data and physical goods movement in its warehouses.

Digitalisation is transforming production and sales processes for industry and retail. According to Dachser Corporate Director Alexander Tonn, it has been a fixed part of warehouse operations for quite some time: “We scan goods at shipping and receiving and manage the data in Mikado, our globally standardised warehouse management system that we update weekly. Then there are the new digital processes that we are testing all the time at our plants: from augmented reality glasses to self-driving pickers.”

Visitors to the Dachser booth at LogiMAT can try on a pair of virtual reality glasses and immerse themselves in a 3D visualisation of warehouse processes. High-resolution images and virtual tours of warehouses improve process transparency and planning certainty.

Nevertheless, the physical nature of providing logistics services remains and ensuring that goods arrive on time and undamaged calls for operational excellence. For global supply chains, Dachser therefore combines warehousing and value-added services with European overland transport, using lorries and intercontinental air and sea freight transport to produce flexible, integrated complete solutions. The company, which has a Luxembourg branch in Grevenmacher, does this through its network of 409 locations.
