At this year’s edition of the annual Luxembourg Students’ Fair (Foire de l’Etudiant) representatives of the universities of Aberdeen, Essex and Kent are represented, together with alumni associations of Cambridge, Oxford and Warwick.

Additionally, the Society of Luxembourg Students in Britain, whose members are currently enrolled at British universities, are there to share their first-hand experience with visitors. Like in preceding years the British Embassy, together with the British Council, is providing general information on entry requirements and how to apply to universities in the United Kingdom. In the afternoon of Thursday 8 November, students from the University of Sheffield are present at the British Embassy/British Council stall at 8D39.

British Ambassador John Marshall said: “I am delighted that we again have a good selection of  British universities participating in this year’s Foire de l’Etudiant.  I know that people are asking whether our departure from the European Union will lead to any changes in students from Luxembourg being able to study in the UK. First of all I can reassure prospective students that both British universities and the Government are as keen as ever to attract students from the EU. We recognise that the diversity of our student population, as we attract the brightest students from around the world, is one of the strengths of our Higher Education sector. I can also confirm that students  who start university in the next academic year, i.e. 2019/20, will remain eligible for home fee status for the duration of their course. Arrangements beyond that have yet to be decided but I hope that we will be able to give clear information early in the New Year for those hoping to study in the UK in academic year 2020/21 and beyond. I constantly meet people in Luxembourg who went to university in the  UK and loved both studying and living there. That certainly won’t change.

This year is the first time for a red double-decker bus to take students form some city centre schools to LuxExpo for the event.
