The Laboratoire national de santé (LNS) and the Administration de l'environnement have signed a cooperation agreement concerning the inspection and analysis of products which hold a potential risk to the environment and public health.
The two organisations will now work together, drawing on the strengths of the other with a view to optimising the environmental monitoring in the Grand Duchy. The Administration will contribute its expertise concerning the inspection and collection of articles put on the market and environmental samples which may be contaminated, whilst the LNS will offer its laboratoriesand apply advanced analytical methods in the research of substances of concern.
These analyses will, for example, be capable of determining the content of heavy metals in the packaging of certain everyday items, or still the presence of organic pollutants in construction waster.
The collaboration will seek to strengthen the existing national system of risk control relative to the chemical composition of products and the environment, whilst simultaneously allowing the Administration de l'Environnement to engage the LNS in European control campaigns of one or more types of products or substances.
