The number of jobseekers registered with the ADEM in Luxembourg has fallen by 3.6% to 15,893 over one year.

As of 30 September 2017, the number of jobseekers in the Grand Duchy dropped by 600 people or 3.6% in the space of one year, with the unemployment rate now at 6.05.

The decline is particularly beneficial for job seekers under the age of 30. Their number dropped by 8.9% compared to September 2016, while the number of job seekers aged over 50 increased by 1.6% year on year. It is also the low-skilled jobseekers who benefit from the favourable situation on the labour market.

During the month of September 2017, employers reported 3,294 vacancies at ADEM, which is about the same number as in September 2016. As at 30 September 2017, the ADEM identified 6,688 posts in its files that remained vacant, which represents an increase of 13% over one year. This increase has been mainly fuelled by growth in vacant positions in the sectors of organisational and business management consulting, private transportation, front office financial markets and information system expertise and support.
