The Luxembourg Agency for the Development of Employment (ADEM) has announced its decision to join DUOday 2018 which will take place on 26 April 2018.

Created in 2008 in Ireland, the concept of DUOday aims to make companies aware of disability issues. This year, ADEM, in collaboration with the Ministry of Family, Integration and the Greater Region and the Ministry of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, is associated with the initiative for the first time.

In practical terms, on 26 April 2018, partner companies open their doors to a person with a disability. A volunteer employee then creates a DUO with this person in order to enable him/her to participate actively in his/her usual professional tasks and/or an observation of his/her work.

This initiative has several objectives. For the company, this allows it to discover the skills of employees with disabilities, to involve, empower and value its employees and to open its doors to diversity and disability in particular. For the disabled person, the objective is to discover an ordinary work environment, to define or specify one's career plan, to start an integration path and to convince an employer of his/her skills in terms of inclusion, performance and autonomy.

Five companies participate in this DUOday 2018 in Luxembourg: Post, Auchan, Auberges de jeunesse luxembourgeoises (Luxembourg Youth Hostels), Actualis and Myjobest.
