The number of job-seekers in Luxembourg has decreased by 4.2% in the past year.

As of 30 June 2018, the amount of available job-seekers registered with the ADEM was 14,482, thus representing a decrease of 638 persons, or 4.2%, over one year. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC is 5.5%.

The drop especially benefited job-seekers under 30 (-9.4%) and low-skilled job-seekers (-5.4%). The number of long-term unemployed fell by 4.4%, as did the number of job-seekers who have the status of disabled employee or worker with reduced working capacity, which is down 2.2% year-on-year.

On the other hand, the number of job-seekers graduating from higher education remained unchanged compared to 30 June 2017.

Moreover, the number of beneficiaries of an unemployment measure was found to be 5,050 at the end of last month, thus representing a decrease of 378 persons, or 7.0%, from the previous year.

During the month of June 2018, employers reported 3,594 vacancies to the ADEM, ie 711 posts or 24.7% more than in June 2017.
