Luxembourg trade unions ALEBA, LCGB-SESF and OGBL-SBA today officially denounced the attitude of Credem International following the bank’s closure in Luxembourg.

Following Credem’s decision to end its activity in Luxembourg after 45 years, thus costing the jobs of its 15 employees, the above trade unions entered into negotiations with the bank to agree on a social plan. However, talks broke down and the National Office of Conciliation (ONC) was brought into the matter last Thursday.

In this context, ALEBA, LCGB-SESF and OGBL-SBA announced their lack of satisfaction concerning the methods used by the bank’s management in Italy which refused to negotiate with the trade unions. They also criticised what was described as a lack of preparation on the part of the management when negotiations did take place.

Moreover, the Luxembourg trade unions have deemed the proposals made by the bank as “disrespectful” and “insulting” to its employees and have concluded that the bank is unwilling to take social responsibility for the situation.
