Luxembourg trade union LCGB has criticised the management attitude towards employees during negotiations on the building collective agreement.

The second meeting of the LCGB and OGBL before the National Conciliation Office as part of the negotiations for the renewal of the building collective agreement took place on 19 September 2018.

After discussions focused on finding common ground, employers (according to LCGB) took a step back by returning to their claim for an extension of the flexibility of employees in the building sector. Indeed, the employers' federations claimed an increase in the maximum weekly working time.

While the first meeting on 5 September 2018 took place in a rather constructive atmosphere, the LCGB stressed its amazement at yesterday's management attitude. In this context, the LCGB recalled its rejection of any additional flexibilisation of employees' working time. On the other hand, the LCGB claims a valorisation of their daily work.

Due to what the trade union considers to be inappropriate behaviour and an unacceptable demand from the employers' federations, negotiations have returned to square one.

As the deadline of 16 weeks for conciliation will expire at the end of October, the LCGB will continue the negotiations ardently and will continue to inform and mobilise its members in order to be able to find a favourable result for employees after 2 years of negotiations.
