Salaried employment in Luxembourg has risen by 0.7% in Quarter 3 of 2018, according to Statec.

This increase in the third quarter, which similarly represents a +3.8% rise over 12 months, has been attributed to job creation in information and communication services (+4.6% over one year), as well as in specialised activities and support services (+5.4%).

The first is due primarily to computer programming activities whilst the favourable development of the second sector comes from accounting activities and current cleaning services of buildings.

Moreover, between the third quarter of 2017 and that of 2018, the number of cross-border workers rose a little faster than that of residents (+4.8% compared to +3.0%). Among the residents, the number of workers from the European Union increased by 2.1% while that of non-Community workers increased by 8.9%.
