Elysian Singers of London to Perform Concerts in Luxembourg

The renowned chamber choir, The Elysian Singers of London, is coming to Luxembourg at the end of May 2018 for two concerts of music spanning the centuries.

The first concert is on 26 May in Waldbillig church starting at 20:00, under the patronage of the Waldbillig Uergelfrënn, and followed by a vin d'honneur; the second, in partnership with well-known Luxembourg ensemble The Art of Music (directed by Mick Swithinbank), is at St Alphonse church in Luxembourg city on 27 May, also starting at 20:00 directly after the evening Mass in English at 19:00.

Directed by Sam Laughton, the Elysians will sing pieces by JS Bach, Tarik O'Regan, Arvo Pärt, and John Tavener, while the programme for The Art of Music includes motets by 12th Century Anonymous, Guerrero, Dering and Byrd. Together, the two choirs will end this joint concert with the Victoria Magnificat Sexti toni (a12).

Both events are free-entry with retiring collections.

At 11.00 on Sunday morning, 27 May, The Elysians will sing with the choir of the Anglican Church of Luxembourg at a service of Holy Communion in the Konvikt chapel, Luxembourg city, at which all are welcome.

These choral events exemplify #LuxUKLinks, the social media initiative launched by the British Ambassador to Luxembourg, John Marshall, who has been using the hashtag to tweet about the ties between Luxembourg and the UK, as some of the performers - now long-term residents of Luxembourg - sang with The Elysians during the choir’s early years.
