By setting the contemporary melody to the literary masterpiece of the Hellenic Renaissance, Dimitris Maramis brings a familiar musical vocabulary, with sounds of blues and jazz, married to the Cretan musical tradition. This particular work focuses mainly on the timeless elements of Erotocritos and Aretoussa's erotic saga, such as friendship, desire, sickness, and the power of erotic commitment to life reversals.

Erotocritos is a romantic epic composed by the Cretan poet Vitsentzos Cornaros in the Cretan language at the beginning of the 17th century. It consists of 10,012 lines of fifteen syllables. It tells the love of two young people, Erotocritos and Aretoussa on a theme similar to "Romeo and Juliet", but with a "happy ending".
