Bettembourg Getting Ready for Jack and the Beanstalk Jack and the Beanstalk; Credit: Two Shades of Blue

Two Shades of Blue are putting on the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk at the Chateau de Bettembourg over the first week-end in February, with five performances in total (tickets almost sold out...).

Featuring music, singing, dance, slapstick, and wonderful humour, this pantomime will have five performances this coming week-end. The Two Shades of Blue team is returning to Luxembourg and bringing its own version of the magical pantomime “Jack and the Beanstalk” with them. Will Jack ever manage to convince Jill of his love for her? Will his Mum, Dame Trott, manage to make her fortune without selling the cow? Will the mysterious Lord Fleshcreep ever collect his rent? And who is the giant anyway?

Chronicle.lu got the change to talk with the people behind the show: Ben Parker, Executive Producer, age 29, and Dominic Mattos, Director, age 107 (?!)

"We're very excited to be coming back to Luxembourg and the Chateau de Bettembourg for a fifth time for another pantomime - and this one is one of the all time classics: Jack and the Beanstalk. We've always had a great reception from everyone in Luxembourg - people give us a very warm welcome and always love our shows. It's really interesting to perform to both the British ex-pats, who know panto and were brought up booing the baddie and cheering the goodie, to the people that haven't seen panto before - often children and those not born in the UK - and wonder why there's a man pretending to be an old woman in a series of incredible and unbelievable dresses, and why everyone on stage keeps bursting into song all the time."

"However, no matter their background, everyone in the audience soon gets in to the spirit of it, and gives us a warm welcome, which is nice as it's normally so cold outside (how do you cope?). We've been rehearsing really hard this year and it's going to be a great show - we have a very close-knit company, with many characters reprising their usual panto roles, and a couple of new young faces!"

"The details about the show can all be found on http://www.twoshadesofblue.org.uk/?p=1381 , and we are so happy that our ticket sales are the strongest they've ever been. Our 14:00 performances are nearly sold out, and our other performances are getting quite full. We'd really like to see as many people as possible for this marvellous family entertainment."

Two Shades of Blue received great audience reaction for their previous pantomimes in Luxembourg: Dick Whittington in 2011, Aladdin in 2010, Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood in 2014, and most recently the marvellous Cinderella.

Jack in the Beanstalk was originally scheduled to be performed in Luxembourg in January last year but had to be postponed due to difficulties in securing a venue.
