The American asset managemment company Blackrock has announced that it has appointed Jean-François Cirelli as Chairman of BlackRock Luxembourg, Belgium and France; he will assume his new duties as of 4 January 2016.

57 year-old Jean-François Cirelli started his career at the Treasury in the Ministry of Economy and Finance in France, and was also Alternate Executive Director for France at the IMF. From 1995-2002 he served as the Economic Advisor to the President of the Republic Jacques Chirac. In 2008 he became Vice-Chairman and CEO of GDF SUEZ, a position he held until November 2014. He is also Chairman of Electrabel, a subsidiary of GDF Suez, and holds other board positions.

In addition, Stéphane Lapiquonne assumes responsibility for the activities of BlackRock France, Belgium and Luxembourg, with Benoit Sorel responsible for the iShare activity and Sylvain Favre-Gilly for institutional activity.
