On Thursday morning, Utopia SA hosted the press conference at which the programme was unveiled for the 2016 Luxembourg City Film Festival being held from 25 February to 6 March.

Among the films included in the festival programming line-up are some produced (or co-produced) locally in Luxembourg as well ad others from around the globe, encompassing many genres, including drama, comedy, horror and 8 documentaries.

Alexis Juncosa revealed the Programme which included Demolition (in RN) to open and Maggie's Plan (in EN) to close.

Wang Xiaoshaui will be the President if the international jury which will also include Vincent Ravalec (France), Gerardo Chijona ((Cuba), Dunara Droukarova (Russia, France),  plus others to be confirmed, with separate Documentary Jury and Press Jury.

The Official Competition will include Alias Maria (Col, Arg, Fra), Appelsauce (USA), Couple in a Hole (UK, Bel, Fra), Frenzy (Tur, Fra), Land of Mine / Under Sandet (Den, Ger), Neon Bull (Bra, Uru), Sunset Song (UK, Lux), The Commune / Kollektivet (Den), The Here After / Efterskalv (Swe, Pol, Fra), Wild (Ger).

A separate Documentary Competition will include A Flickering Truth (NZ, AF), Eldorado (Lux), Mallory (Czech Rep), Sonita (Ger, Chi, Iran), The Settlers (Fra, Isr, Can, Ger), Under the Sun (Rus, Ger, Czech, Latv, Pr Korea), Voices from Chernobyl (Lux), Where to Invade Next (USA).

Out of competition, but still in the official selection, are A Bigger Splash (Ita), About Ray (USA), High Rise (UK), Hurricane, a Wind Odyssey (Fra, UK), La Prima Zlyce (Ita), Nina Forever (UK), Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (USA), The Lure (Pol).

Other films in the Made in Luxembourg category include 50 Days in the Desert (Lux), Colonia (Ger, Lux), Le Chant des Hommes (Bel, Lux, Fra), Mammal (Irl, Lux, NL), Peter and Wendy (UK, Lux).

A Short Films screening will also be organised, with 6 Luxembourg films.

Many of the films, if not in English, will have English sub-titles.

The festival also includes a number of workshops, exhibitions and other events, Hors les Murs, with the programming covering a number of strands, many of which are focussed on young audiences. The festival's Magic Mirrors HQ will be in a marquee on the Place de la Constitution and will include s full Virtual Reality Corner (open from 20 February). Last year, 18,000 people attended the festival, both screenings and other events.
