On Wednesday evening, the interior of the Irish Pub at Eirelux in Luxembourg-Howald was transformed as 22 teams contested the Irish Club of Luxembourg's Fundraising Quiz.

Set eight rounds of ten questions, Quizmaster Geoff Thompson first asked the teams to choose their joker round - on which they would score double points. Once the quiz got going, it was non-stop, with question topics ranging from general knowledge to current affairs, with the like of history, geograohy, arts & literature and sport in between.

In the end, it was the Sign of Four (75.5 points) btaht pipped No.5 (73 points) for the top place, with The B-Team also getting on the podium.

The event raised circa €1,500 from entry fees, a tombola and the sale of sandwiches. There were almost 30 prizes in the tombola, with Beranger Theisen scooping the Aer Aegean flights. Other attractive prizes included meal vouchers at restaurants including the Mercure Hotel in Kikuoka, Les Roses at Casino2000 in Mondorf, the Royal Bengal and Bay of Bengal Indian restaurants, Le Stubli at the Sofitel in Kirchberg and the Brazilian restaurant Maria Bonito in Clausen.
