On Friday 31 July 2015, the cabinet of Luxembourg's government adopted the draft laws implementing the conventions signed on 26 January 2015 with the Catholic Church, the Jewish community, the Anglican Church, the Orthodox Church, the Protestant Church, the Protestant Reformed Church and the Muslim community.

The new conventions have been designed to adapt the previous conventions concluded between 1982 and 2004 addressing the relations between the state and religions on the basis of Article 22 of the Constitution. The conventions and the bills address part of the regulatory reform concerning relations between the state and churches in the Grand Duchy.

The aspects concerning the church properties and the introduction of a new course in school addressing ethics and morals are the subject of separate agreements signed with the Catholic Church. Their implementation falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Education and will be covered in separate bills.

As a result these laws are expected to go before parliament to become law by the end of 2015. For further information of the details agreed, see http://www.chronicle.lu/categorieslivingreligion/item/9984-clergy-to-become-private-employees,-catholic-church-to-buy-church-buildings
