On Saturday 7 July, the Service Krank Kanner Doheem (SKKD) celebrated their 30th anniversary with Equality Minister Lydia Mutsch in attendance.

The celebration was held at the Parc Merveilleux in Bettembourg where the minister congratulated the service for their commitment and success whilst thanking managers and staff for their exemplary work and dedication.

As part of Femmes en détresse (Women in Need), the Service Krank Kanner Doheem offers a family care service in case a child is taken ill. The service consists of supervising and caring for children in an environment that is familiar to them, their home.

The service has grown exponentially since it was founded in 1988 and continues to grow with great success. In 2017, the figures show that 1,600 families have registered and 1,100 sick children have benefited from the service.

"Complementary to the reform of family leave for mothers and fathers, the SKKD service is an effective tool that helps facilitate the reconciliation of family life and professional life," said Lydia Mutsch
