Reopening of Brasserie La Lorraine;

The Brasserie La Lorraine re-opened its doors on Thursday evening following a complete transformation of the inside of the renowned seafood restaurant on Place d'Armes in Luxembourg city centre.

An institution for some, a mythical place for others, the Brasserie La Lorraine was taken over at the end of last year by François Poitrinal and Benjamin Debris. Significant work has been done to this establishment famous for its fish, seafood and exceptional wine list. The two new owners already manage several brasseries in Paris through their company Union des Cafés de Paris, helped by their director of operations, Kévin Montay.

Between modernity and tradition "My family, from Luxembourg, has known the golden age of Lorraine. It was, for us, the restaurant of Sunday family lunches. When I learned that the establishment was for sale, we seized the opportunity. It is an investment, but also a project of passion and a challenge for us"; François Poitrinal said. "Knowing the potential of this mythical place, we undertook heavy renovation work in accordance with the best standards of the profession. The decoration being finalised will recall the open sea and the sea air. We want to offer our guests a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere around a healthy and natural cuisine. We are aiming at the usual customers of La Lorraine, consisting of both family and business lunches, as well as a new clientele and people visiting Luxembourg who want to find a place and a welcome both friendly and of a high quality" continued Benjamin Debris.

A revisited menu

The owners teamed up with the team already in place to reflect and create a new menu, at reasonable prices, focused on seafood products. Like the traditional brasseries, they have set up a continuous service to enjoy a seafood platter at any time, or enjoy a good beer from Luxembourg on the terrace. The former team has been taken over and the two leaders, Mathieu and Yoan, have been present in La Lorraine for more than 10 years.

A Brasserie of the Sea

"From our reflections also came the need for a fish and seafood stall that had been the attraction of the restaurant for many years. The stall is already in place. We wanted to make a nod to the origins and history of La Lorraine. Given the success it has had, we are not mistaken!" concluded Benjamin Debris.
