On Monday 24 July 2023, representatives of the Luxembourg Ministry of Education, Children and Youth and members of the board of directors of the ASBL Luxembourg Science Center (LSC) met to discuss the situation of the LSC.

During this interview, the stakeholders discussed the proposed memorandum of understanding that the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth had submitted after requesting the Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) to draft a special report on the governance and financial management of the LSC and after terminating the agreement with the LSC.

After an exchange, the two parties agreed on key points, including the future governance of the LSC (e.g. the appointment of two state representatives to the board of directors) and the future financing arrangements.

The discussion also focused on a possible partial integration of the company GGM 11 into the ASBL LSC. The ministry has asked the LSC Board to develop a proposal for the terms of such integration. An external audit body will be responsible for supporting the process.

According to the ministry, both parties are confident that they will be able to quickly conclude the discussions and sign a memorandum of understanding which will serve as the basis for a new agreement, with the common goal of ensuring the continuity of the educational activities of the LSC.
