The LuxFilmFest 2019 will be taking place from Thursday 7 March until Sunday 17 March 2019; on Wednesday, the organisers revealed the line-up of documentaries that will be screened during the festival, with partners and which are described as inspirational and eye-opening.

On Sunday 10 March, join Ciné-ONU for a double-bill of "On Her Shoulders" (US, 2018) and "Under the Wire" (UK, 2018), as part of their pan-European bi-monthly screening and debate series. As with all Ciné-ONU screenings, tickets are available for free.

On Wednesday 13 March, join the Institut Pierre Werner and the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg for a screening of "The Waldheim Waltz" (AT, 2018).

Screening times, venue & film synopses:

- Sunday 10 March @ 14:00 @ Ciné Utopia: Under The Wire (UK, 2018) by Chris Martin: A harrowing look into renowned journalist Marie Colvin’s final assignment to Homs, Syria, in 2012, from which she never returned. The screening will be followed by a discussion with François Large - Caritas Luxembourg, Andrea Cairola, Programme Specialist in the Division for Freedom of Expression and Media Development, Communication and Information (CI) Sector, UNESCO and André Rollinger, president of ALNU (moderator).

- Sunday 10 March @ 16:30 @ Cinémathèque: On Her Shoulders (US, 2018) by Alexandria Bombach. An empowering documentary about Nobel Peace Prize recipient Nadia Murad, a Yazidi genocide survivor determined to tell the world her story. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Morgan François Minchin, UNRIC (introduction and moderation), Charles Goerens, Member of the European Parliament and Member of the Subcommittee on Human Rights and Sandrine Gashonga, Amnesty International Luxembourg.

- Wednesday 13 March @ 18:30 @ Cinémathèque: The Waldheim Waltz (AT, 2018) by Ruth Beckermann - a history lesson in deceit. The documentary explores the uncovering of former UN Secretary General Kurt Waldheim’s Nazi wartime past as he stands in the presidential elections in Austria in 1986.
