Luxembourg’s National Youth Service (Service national de la jeunesse - SNJ) has announced that BEE SECURE will launch a new campaign aiming to educate the general public on the fundamentals of cybersecurity.

BEE SECURE has noticed an increase in fraudulent activity on the Internet, including cases of phishing, sextortion and hacking of personal accounts. Figures from the BEE SECURE Helpline consultation service confirm this development with 288 contacts regarding cybercrime in 2022 and already 216 cases from January to September 2023.

BEE SECURE will present a series of tips aimed at better protecting devices and personal data against a series of risks on the Internet. These “lifehacks” in the form of expert videos are available on https://bee-secure.lu/kyss (available in German and French).

The “Keep your space safe” campaign’s main tips are:

  • enable autosave, for example in a cloud;
  • think before clicking links;
  • screen new friends on social media beforehand;
  • a password can also be a phrase.

Many BEE SECURE partners support the “Keep your space safe” campaign, SNJ noted. This year, telecommunications operators are bringing greater visibility to the campaign with the distribution of the Secure your smartphone leaflet in their boutiques and stores in Luxembourg. Municipalities, high schools, youth centres, maisons relais (child minding services), general practitioners, police offices and many other actors will equally support the campaign by disseminating its content.
