Due to today's weather conditions leading to several flight cancellations, Luxembourg's Directorate for Consumer Protection reiterated the rules relating to the protection of air passengers' rights in extraordinary circumstances.

In the event of freezing rain, considered an exceptional circumstance and not attributable to the airlines, no compensation is due from the latter. However, passengers have two options to choose from:

  • reimbursement of the original ticket price or
  • request a replacement flight under similar transport conditions and as soon as possible.
