The long weekend of the Pentecost brought mixed weather and mixed tourist numbers for Luxembourg this year, with a slight fall in visitor numbers recorded by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office, when compared to 2016, although the general trend has remained positive compared to 2014.

At Casemates du Bock, visitor numbers fell by almost 9%, with 3,198 visits, 312 fewer than last year. In the city, the LCTO information office at Place Guillaume II welcomed 385 fewer visitors than in 2016, a significant drop of 12.38%.

Guided tours remain one of the keys to the success of urban tourism in Luxembourg. And LCTO guides led 102 groups, three times more than one year ago.

The majority of visitors came from neighbouring countries, with Germans accounting fro 29%, the French 19%, the Dutch 9%, English 6% and Belgians at 4%. Collectively, these represented 73% of the total number of tourists identified.
