At a press conference held in Metz, France, on Tuesday, the organisers of the Moselle Open tennis tournament announced Spaniard Tommy Robredo as the first Wildcard for this year’s tournament.

The Fédération Francais de Tennis wildcard (FFT) is on standby and will be either 19 year-old Quentin Halys or 18 year-old Geoffrey Blancaneaux. A third wildcard will be announced at the end of this week.

The wildcards will join the already announced players, including Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller.

This year’s Moselle Open will host an impressive list of players:

- Three top 15 players, No. 9 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (three-time winner 2011, 2012 & 2015), No. 10 Dominic Thiem, No. 13 David Goffin (winner 2014)

- Three top 20-30 players - No. 25 Lucas Pouille, No. 28 Philipp Kohlschreiber, No. 30 Martin Klizan

- Six top 30-50 players - No. 31 Gilles Simon (winner 2010 & 2013), No. 32 Benoit Paire, No. 37 Gilles Muller, No. 42 Nicolas Mahut, No. 47 Marcel Granollers, No. 48 Nicolas Almagro

- and Nine top 50-75 players - No. 52 Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, No. 53 Guido Pella, No. 59 Malek Jaziri, No. 63 Iliya Marchenko, No. 69 Paul-Henri Mathieu, No. 70 Carlos Berloq, No. 71 Andreas Seppi, No. 73 Horacio Zaballos, No. 75 Damir Dzumhur.

The tournament takes place at Les Arènes de Metz between 18-25 September 2016. The qualifications take place on Sunday 18 September starting at 10:00.
