On Wednesday 27 September 2023, Luxembourg’s Minister for Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch, and the Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, officially inaugurated the École Internationale Mersch Anne Beffort (EIMAB) in the presence of the school's director, Julie Suzanne-Bausch.

The school, situated on approximately four hectares of land with direct access from Square Marie-Astrid, is designed to accommodate a maximum of 750 students in a modern and compliant structure in terms of surfaces and comfort, according to the ministry.

The original buildings, dating back to the 1960s, underwent numerous individual modifications over time to adapt to changing needs, resulting in a visually diverse and architecturally mismatched complex. Extensive renovation work was deemed necessary to address the entire school's evolution and create a more harmonious appearance.

Key project objectives include enhancing thermal performance through new facades, utilising the concrete structure's thermal inertia for classrooms, and minimising the use of technical installations. The sustainability aspect incorporates photovoltaic panels on the classroom and boarding school roofs, covering around 1,000 m2, as well as the introduction of green roofs.

Most of the new lightweight structures, including the sports hall frame, school canteen annex frame, and classroom building's ventilated facade sub-structure, were constructed using wood.

The total project cost, including taxes, stands at €52,300,000, with work initiated in 2018 and the building becoming operational in April 2022.
