From Thursday 9 to Friday 10 October 2025, Luxembourg's Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, Elisabeth Margue, took part in the EU’s informal Transport, Telecommunications and Energy (TTE) Council in Horsens, Denmark.
According to the Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy (SMC) of the Ministry of State, the meeting focused on protecting minors online and on technological sovereignty.
During the discussions on the protection of minors, Minister Margue reaffirmed that this objective remains a priority for the Luxembourg Government, welcomed the Digital Services Act guidelines on age verification and the protection of minors, and stressed the need for harmonised implementation at EU level to ensure consistent safeguards for young users. She also underlined the importance of a coordinated approach to the digital age of majority rather than fragmented national frameworks, noting: “The protection of minors is a cause close to my heart. It is essential to ensure that children can access age-appropriate content in a digital environment that is safe and respectful of their development. This is a responsibility we share at European level, and to which Luxembourg is fully committed.”
At the ministerial lunch dedicated to digital sovereignty, Minister Margue recalled the national initiative “Accelerating Digital Sovereignty 2030”, focused on artificial intelligence, data and quantum. At the same time, she highlighted the need to strengthen European capacities in strategic areas such as semiconductors, secure cloud and cybersecurity, while investing in digital skills.
She also called for a simplification of the EU regulatory framework to enable more coherent digital governance in support of a more sovereign, secure and competitive Europe.
