From Thursday 18 to Friday 19 June 2026, Luxembourg’s Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, travelled to Brussels in Belgium to participate in the European Council.

According to Luxembourg's Ministry of State, the meeting brought together the Heads of State and Government in Brussels to discuss the European Union's (EU) competitiveness and its 2028 to 2034 financial framework amid ongoing “geopolitical challenges” facing the EU.

The discussions also focused on global economic challenges, the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as migration and security issues.
