On Thursday 18 June 2026, Luxembourg took part in the tenth edition of the Viva Technology (VivaTech) trade fair in Paris, France with its national pavilion, marking the country's eighth participation in Europe's leading technology and innovation event.

Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and Foreign Trade Xavier Bettel and Minister of Research and Higher Education and Minister of Digitalisation Stéphanie Obertin attended the trade fair to promote Luxembourg's innovation ecosystem and strengthen international cooperation.

Since its creation in 2016, VivaTech has established itself as one of Europe's leading trade fairs for start ups, investors, researchers and stakeholders in digital transformation.

Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce said it coordinated the Luxembourg pavilion, which hosted thirteen innovative companies from the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, robotics, augmented reality, educational technologies, digital health and climate technologies.

According to the ministries, the two Luxembourg representatives attended the official opening ceremony before visiting the Luxembourg pavilion, where they met founders of the participating start ups. The Luxembourg delegation also met companies with close links to national innovation ecosystem, including DEEP by POST Luxembourg, Inui Studio and Leexi.

Minister Bettel also visited the Indian pavilion, as India served as the partner country for this year's edition in the field of AI. He held bilateral meetings with India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal and Maurice Lévy, co-founder of the VivaTech trade fair, noted the ministries.

Minister Obertin met foreign delegations and institutional representatives at the pavilions of Wallonia, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany and Quebec to discuss cooperation in research, innovation, digital technologies and technological sovereignty. She later spoke at the official reception organised by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce at the Luxembourg Residence in Paris, attended by representatives from the business, innovation, research and investment sectors.

Minister Bettel said: "The Luxembourg start up ecosystem continues to grow and is an essential driver of innovation. As Minister of Foreign Trade, I will continue to support Luxembourg start ups internationally while working to attract innovative companies to Luxembourg."

Minister Obertin said: "In a context of increased global technological competition, Europe must turn more knowledge into innovation and more innovation into growth. The companies present today at VivaTech demonstrate that Luxembourg has the talent, scientific excellence and entrepreneurial spirit needed to develop the technologies that will shape our economy and our digital sovereignty of tomorrow."

According to the ministries, the visit reaffirmed Luxembourg's commitment to innovation and technological entrepreneurship. They added that the participation highlighted the expertise of Luxembourg companies, promoted the country's priorities in research, digitalisation and innovation, and strengthened exchanges with international partners to encourage new economic, technological and scientific cooperation.
