Three Short Plays are being performed at the Centre Culturel Hollerich (24 rue Lavandier) from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 May 2025: ticket sales have now opened.
- My Father Odysseus (by Timberlake Wertenbacker, performed by St Georges International School): directed by Clare Williams, it is described as “an upbeat, youthful retelling of the Greek myth Odysseus from the perspective of his son, Telemachus, a young man filled with teenage angst and internal conflict”.
- Escurial (by Michel de Ghelderode, performed by the New World Theatre Club (NWTC)): Directed by John Brigg, it is NWTC's entry to the 2025 FEATS festival in Hamburg, Germany from Friday 6 to Monday 9 June 2025. It tells the story of a king and his dying queen. The king summons his fool to embark on “a daring game of bluff and counterbluff” to get to “the gritty heart of why authoritarian men ultimately lose out”.
- Too Darn Hot! (by Neil Johnson, performed by Pirate Productions): This one-act version of “TOO DARN HOT!” is written and directed by Neil Johnson. The show is a biography of the American composer & playwright Cole Porter, who enjoyed great success on Broadway during the 1920s through to the 1950s with shows such as “Anything Goes”, “Kiss me, Kate” and “Gay Divorcee”. “TOO DARN HOT!” has been accepted as an official entrant to the Festival of European Anglophone Theatrical Societies (FEATS) 2025 in Hamburg, Germany the weekend of Friday 6 June to Monday 9 June 2025.
