Luxembourg’s Theater Federatioun (Theatre Federation) has announced three English-language theatre productions taking place in October 2026.
The Grand Théâtre in Luxembourg-Kirchberg will present The Other Place by British playwright and director Alexander Zeldin on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 October 2026.
Inspired by Sophocles’ Antigone, the play transposes the themes of the Greek tragedy to a contemporary British family. Two sisters reunite on the anniversary of their father’s death, forcing the family to confront grief, guilt and unresolved tensions.
The performances will be in English and last one hour and twenty minutes without an interval. An introduction by Neel Chrillesen will take place in English 30 minutes before each performance. The production is recommended for audiences aged fifteen and above and includes strong language, violence, loud sounds and sexual content.
On Friday 2 October, the Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck (CAPE) will host Shelley – Radically Romantic, written and performed by Laure Schreiner, from 19:30 to 20:45.
The monodrama explores the life and work of Frankenstein author Mary Shelley and her struggle to establish herself as a female writer in the predominantly male literary world of her time. Combining fragments of Shelley’s writing with music and visual elements, the production examines creativity, womanhood and the personal cost of creating art.
Théâtre National du Luxembourg (TNL) in Luxembourg-Belair will present Anne Simon’s The Lobster Considers on Saturday 3, Sunday 4, Wednesday 7, Saturday 10 and Tuesday 13 October.
Set in a near-future society where food consumption has become bureaucratised, the dystopian musical production explores ethics, consumerism, pleasure and restraint. It is loosely inspired by David Foster Wallace’s essay Consider the Lobster.
Performances on 3, 7, 10 and 13 October will take place from 19:30 to 21:00, while the performance on Sunday 4 October is scheduled from 17:00 to 18:30.
