On Monday 9 May 2022, the mayor of the Mamer municipality, Gilles Roth, in the presence of the alderman, Luc Feller, and the members of the municipal council, inaugurated a new playground at the leisure and sports park in Capellen.

Mayor Roth recalled that the initial idea was in fact to build a BMX track there, in addition to the "Verkéiersgaart", which is nearby. These plans were later modified and expanded. The result was a recreation area where children can play in the playground whilst adults can indulge in a game of pétanque or use the fitness equipment. A free-access bouldering, with rock climbing routes up to two metres high, is also installed. A kiosk offering drinks and snacks will also be set up at a later date.

The municipality of Mamer invested €3.25 million in the redevelopment and transformation of the leisure and sports park. In addition to the playground and its surroundings, the walking paths have been renovated and benches and rest areas have been installed.

Mayor Roth also pointed out that a safe and easy-to-learn cycle path directly connects Mamer to the Capellen recreation area, allowing children and families to access in under 20 minutes. There are parking spaces available nearby for visitors who come by car as well.
