On Wednesday 9 July 2025, the Fédération des acteurs du secteur social au Luxembourg (FEDAS) announced the creation of its new “Housing” platform.
FEDAS Luxembourg reported that since 2023, it has been actively engaged, in close consultation with its members, in a structured dialogue with Luxembourg’s Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning, the Syndicat des Villes et Communes Luxembourgeoises (Syvicol), the Fonds du Logement and the Société Nationale des Habitations à Bon Marché (SNHBM), with the aim of adapting the legal and regulatory frameworks for affordable housing and social rental management as closely as possible to align with on-the-ground needs and realities.
FEDAS Luxembourg stated: “The housing crisis is not over. The shortage of housing, precarious living conditions and homelessness represent a systemic crisis in Luxembourg. The social sector is part of the solution.”
With the creation of the Housing platform, FEDAS Luxembourg said that this “guarantees a long-term coordinated space for exchange between stakeholders in the social sector” and “strengthens the legitimacy of FEDAS Luxembourg’s contributions to the housing sector and encourages innovation”.
FEDAS Luxembourg also confirmed Director at SNHBM, Gilles Hempel, as coordinator during their General Assembly, which took place on Wednesday 25 June 2025.
