
The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on Wednesday 9th of July, between 18:00 and 22:00, they conducted a number of speed checks on the A7 motorway in the direction of Colmar-Berg.
During the operation, one driver was recorded travelling at 222 km/h, significantly exceeding the 130 km/h speed limit. The driver’s licence was confiscated on the spot and a provisional driving ban was issued. An official report was drawn up.
In addition, 34 other motorists received a fine of €145 and a deduction of 2 points for speeding offences. A further 10 drivers received a fine of €49 for similar violations. One driver was found not to hold a valid driving licence, for which an official report was also drawn up.
Moreover, two drivers were fined €250 and received a 4-point penalty for using a mobile phone while driving.
At the same time, police deployed a mobile speed camera on the A7 motorway heading towards Mersch. A total of 55 drivers were flashed, with the highest speed recorded being 188 km/h in the 130 km/h zone.
