The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two driving bans were issued and a licence revoked following incidents which occurred across the evening of Friday 13 through to the early hours of Saturday 14 February 2026.

According to the police, on the evening of Friday 13 February, the police in Luxembourg City were informed of a dispute between a taxi driver and three passengers in another vehicle, during which the taxi driver was reportedly threatened in the course of the verbal altercation. The taxi driver and the three other individuals involved were located  shortly afterwards by a police patrol in the Luxembourg-Gare district. Officers found indications of alcohol consumption in the driver of the second vehicle and an alcohol test was conducted. A provisional driving ban was issued as a result of the positive test.

On the same evening, officers in Avenue de la Liberté in Luxembourg-Ville noticed a driver operating a vehicle at significantly excessive speed. An alcohol test was carried out which returned a positive result. A provisional driving ban was accordingly issued.

Then, at approximately 00:30 on Saturday 14 February, a police patrol then became aware of a driver operating at high speed through Diekirch and Gilsdorf via the Route de Gilsdorf. The vehicle was stopped in Bettendorf and the driver checked. Due to signs of drug consumption, a rapid drug test was conducted, which returned a positive result. Additionally, small quantities of hashish were secured from one of the passengers and the driver. Reports were subsequently filed by the officers.

Moreover, in the early hours of Saturday, police were alerted to a dispute between a man and a woman who were acquainted, on Rue Clair-Chêne, Esch-Alzette. The man eventually entered the woman’s vehicle and drove off. The vehicle was located shortly after by police and the driver checked. An alcohol test returned a positive result, resulting in the confiscation of his driving licence.
