Prison Officer Injured During Escape Attempt at Givenich Penitentiary

Luxembourg's Prison Administration has reported that an incident occurred at the Givenich penitentiary (Centre Pénitentiaire de Givenich) at around 10:30 on Tuesday 10 March 2026.

While attempting to escape, an inmate threw a piece of wood at pursuing prison officers, slightly injuring one officer in the hand and abdomen.

Following the incident, the officer received medical treatment.

The Public Prosecutor's Office was informed of the incident and the Grand Ducal Police attended the scene.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
