The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two driving bans were issued following drink-driving offences over the night of Thursday 12 to the early morning of Friday 13 March 2026.

According to the initial information, at around 23:00 on the evening of Thursday 12 March, the police received a report of a vehicle lying in a ditch on Rue de Grunewald in Senningerberg whose driver was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. A police patrol attended the scene and ascertained that the driver was uninjured. Officers conducted a breathalyser test on the driver which returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was issued.

Later,  at approximately 03:30 during the night of Friday 13 March, a police patrol on the A3 motorway towards France observed a vehicle overtaking the officers at very high speed. The vehicle was stopped near the Aire de Berchem and the driver was checked. The driver displayed clear signs of alcohol consumption and a subsequent breathalyser test returned a positive result. The driver’s licence was confiscated.
