The Grand Ducal Police have reported several incidents of drink-driving recorded on Monday 6 April and in the early hours of Tuesday 7 April 2026.

On the morning of Monday, a police patrol checked a vehicle on the A3 which was stationary on the hard shoulder, with the driver asleep at the wheel. A breathalyser test returned a positive result and the driver’s licence was confiscated.

At around 11:30, police were alerted to a vehicle driving erratically on the A13 near Mondorf. A patrol located the vehicle shortly afterwards. During the check, officers observed clear signs of alcohol consumption. The breathalyser test was positive and a provisional driving ban was issued.

At approximately 19:30, a driver was reported for unsafe driving in Esch-sur-Alzette. A police patrol stopped the driver shortly afterwards. He showed clear signs of alcohol consumption; the breathalyser test was positive and a provisional driving ban was issued.

Shortly before 01:00 on Tuesday, officers noticed a vehicle on the A13 stopped on the hard shoulder with hazard lights on. The driver stated that he had collided with the guardrail. Upon exiting the vehicle, he staggered and showed clear signs of alcohol consumption. A breathalyser test returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was issued.

During the night, police officers also stopped a vehicle on Rue du Fort Neipperg in Luxembourg-Gare after noticing it was being driven without headlights. The driver had difficulty controlling the vehicle and again switched off the headlights after being warned by officers. A subsequent check revealed clear signs of alcohol consumption; the breathalyser test was positive and a provisional driving ban was issued.
