Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade has announced that a new Luxembourg passport will enter into force from Monday 11 May 2026.

The ministry stated that the validity period of the new passport for adults will increase to ten years.

The new passport will also include a new design and modernised security features in order to comply with international standards applicable to travel documents.

The passport fee will remain unchanged at €50 for the standard procedure and €150 for the emergency procedure. The delivery time will be seven working days after the application submission for the standard procedure and three working days for the emergency procedure.

People who wish to obtain the new passport will be able to submit their application from Monday 11 May 2026 at the counters of Luxembourg's Directorate of Consular Affairs and International Cultural Relations, municipal administrations, as well as Luxembourg diplomatic and consular representations abroad.
