The Grand Ducal Police have reported incidents across Luxembourg on Tuesday 12 May 2026 linked to a theft in Differdange and the execution of an arrest warrant in Luxembourg-Gare.
On Tuesday afternoon, police received a report that a person had gained access to the staff area of a shop in Differdange and stolen several handbags. An immediate search operation initially proved unsuccessful. According to initial information, the suspect was later identified and apprehended during the subsequent investigation. Stolen items were recovered and returned to their rightful owners. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge on the morning of Wednesday 13 May 2026.
Later that evening, at around 23:00, police carried out an identity check on Rue de Strasbourg in Luxembourg-Gare, during which officers discovered that a man was subject to an arrest warrant. Following a medical examination, he was transferred to the Centre Pénitentiaire Uerschterhaff (CPU) in Sanem.
