The Grand Ducal Police have reported two arrests made on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 June 2026 in connection with shoplifting and public nuisance offences.
On Tuesday afternoon, police received a report that a man had allegedly stolen a bottle of perfume from a shop in Upper Town of Luxembourg City. A police patrol located the suspect shortly afterwards during a search operation.
According to initial information, further investigations linked the man to another shoplifting incident the previous day, as well as to other offences. Acting on the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday night, police were informed of two men in Erpeldange-sur-Sûre who were reportedly behaving in an intrusive manner towards a passer-by.
A police patrol later found the two men staggering on the roadway in Rue du Viaduc. As they had already attracted police attention earlier due to their condition and had shown no signs of improvement, officers decided to place them in custody until they regained sobriety.
