The Grand Ducal Police reported that they had carried out alcohol impairment checks in Boevange and Brouch on Friday 3 July 2026.

The checks were undertaken at the request of the State Prosecutor, as provided for by Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 on the regulation of traffic on all public roads.

During checks carried out in Boevange (Am Lëtschert) between 21:00 and 22:00, 61 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication. In one case, the test proved positive and a fixed penalty notice was issued.

The police also recorded one offence for the use of a handheld electronic device with a screen while driving.

Later that evening, further checks were carried out in Brouch (Route d'Arlon) between 22:45 and 23:45, during which 120 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication.

In seven cases, the test proved positive and fixed penalty notices and official reports were issued. One driving licence was withdrawn on the spot.
