The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two men were arrested following separate theft-related incidents on Sunday 12 and Monday 13 July 2026.
On Sunday afternoon, a man reported a theft from his vehicle parked on Rue Adolphe Fischer in Luxembourg City.
According to initial information, two suspects stole a suitcase and a sports bag containing several items of clothing and two watches from the vehicle.
During the subsequent search operation, police located one suspect near Pont Adolphe. During a body search, officers seized several credit, bank and membership cards that had not been issued in the suspect's name. Police established that some of the cards were linked to other thefts reported earlier that day and on previous occasions.
On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge the following morning. The investigation into the second, as yet unidentified, suspect and the whereabouts of the remaining stolen property is ongoing.
During the night of Monday 13 July, police received a report of a theft at a petrol station.
When officers arrived, employees pointed out two suspects who were still at the scene. One of the men fled and pushed a police officer aside when the officer attempted to stop him.
Several police patrols joined the pursuit, and officers arrested the suspect a short time later in the garden of a residential property. A search for the second suspect proved unsuccessful.
According to the investigation so far, the suspect had visited the petrol station several times, both alone and together with another person, committing multiple thefts.
On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge later that afternoon.
