Luxembourg's Grand Ducal Police have reported two separate arrests made in connection with a European Arrest Warrant and an attempted violent theft.
On the afternoon of Wednesday 29 July 2026, police were informed that a European Arrest Warrant had been issued for a man. Officers initially searched for the suspect at his possible address but were unable to locate him. He was later found at his official residence in Koerich.
Acting on the instructions of the public prosecutor's office, police arrested the man, who was brought before an investigating judge the following morning.
In a separate incident shortly after midnight on Thursday 30 July 2026, police responded to a report of an attempted violent theft in Rue Emile Verhaeren in Luxembourg-Belair.
According to the police, a suspect approached a passer-by before grabbing the victim by the wrist in an attempt to snatch their wristwatch. The victim managed to break free and keep the watch, while the suspect fled towards the nearby cemetery.
A police patrol located the suspected offender a short time later. During a body search, officers seized several items, including a mobile phone, a chain and cash. On the instructions of the public prosecutor's office, the items were confiscated as evidence and the suspect was arrested.
