On Saturday 1 August 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that it had responded to around 90 incidents of disturbance overnight.
According to the initial information, during the night of Friday 31 July to Saturday 1 August, police nationwide responded to approximately 90 incidents, including around 40 noise complaints, as well as reports of fights, disputes and public disturbances. In most cases, the situation had already calmed down by the time officers arrived or was resolved at the scene.
At approximately 18:15 on Friday, police were called to a dispute involving several people at Place de la Gare in Luxembourg-Gare. One of those involved was visibly distressed, became increasingly aggressive and could not be calmed. As the man was considered a danger to himself and others because of his condition, he was medically examined before being placed in protective police custody.
Later that evening, at around 23:15, police received reports of a heavily intoxicated person on Rue de la Gendarmerie in Rodange who was verbally abusing passers-by. Officers found a man who could barely remain standing. As he posed a danger to himself and others because of his condition, he was also medically examined before being placed in protective police custody.
Shortly afterwards, at approximately 23:35, police were called to another disturbance in Route de Longwy in Rodange. On arrival, officers found a person standing in the street, shouting loudly and verbally abusing local residents. As the man could not be calmed, was disturbing public order and posed a danger to himself and others, he was medically examined before being taken into protective police custody to sober up.
