On Wednesday 5 August 2026, WeConnect Luxembourg, a societal impact company (SIS) that helps students find affordable housing by connecting them with people willing to share their homes, launched a call for 100 new hosts ahead of the start of the academic year.

According to WeConnect, more than 500 new housing requests have been registered since the launch of its new platform just one month ago. The organisation noted that the number of available rooms remains "largely insufficient".

"Just a few weeks before the start of the academic year, the housing crisis continues to make it difficult for many students to settle in Luxembourg," WeConnect stated.

The organisation added that nearly 50 intergenerational shared housing arrangements are currently in place. However, to meet the increase in demand recorded this summer, around 100 new hosts are still being sought before the start of the academic year.

WeConnect also shared the example of a student who said one of their friends had recently been forced to sleep on the street after failing to find accommodation in time.

According to the organisation, hosts receive rent starting from €520 per month, remain free to choose the student they wish to accommodate and are supported by WeConnect throughout the shared housing arrangement, including with contracts, insurance, follow-up and advice.

Prospective hosts can register via WeConnect's website, where they can create a profile, list an available room and be matched with suitable students.
