The Grand Ducal Police have reported that several driving licences were revoked during separate incidents in Soleuvre, Dudelange and Rodange in the early hours of Friday 7 August 2026.
According to the police, officers carried out a speed check on Rue de Differdange in Soleuvre between 00:16 and 01:30, during which four drivers were found to have exceeded the speed limit and were issued with fines.
After the operation had concluded, officers noticed another vehicle travelling at excessive speed. When they attempted to alert the driver by flashing their headlights, the vehicle accelerated towards the town centre. Police pursued the vehicle, which continued at a significantly excessive speed towards Esch-sur-Alzette before being stopped on Rue Metzerlach. Alcohol and drug tests were negative. However, checks revealed that the driver had previously committed a serious speeding offence. The driver's licence was revoked, the vehicle was seized and a report was filed.
In a separate incident, at around 02:25, police received a report that a possibly intoxicated person intended to drive from Avenue Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Dudelange. Officers stopped the man on Rue Jean Jaurès, where a breath test returned a positive result. As he was not carrying his driving licence, he was issued with a provisional driving ban.
Later, at around 05:45, a police patrol noticed a man sitting in a parked vehicle with the engine running at a petrol station on Route de Longwy in Rodange. Officers detected a strong smell of alcohol and a subsequent breath test was positive. The driver was also issued with a driving ban.
