On Tuesday 15 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported the arrest of two men following a violent chain theft in Luxembourg City and a subsequent police operation in Hesperange.

According to the police, on Thursday 10 September at around 19:20, a man had a gold chain ripped from his neck in Rue du Fort Neipperg near Luxembourg City’s central railway station.

Initial information indicated that two men had approached him shortly after a glass container fell to the ground. While one of them struck him in the chest, the other tried to knock him to the ground. They then stole the gold chain and fled.

On Friday 11 September at around 21:00, the two men were identified and located during a police operation in Hesperange. During subsequent searches, officers found and seized, among other things, several items of jewellery, cash and mobile phones.

On the order of the public prosecutor’s office, both men were arrested. The seizure of the items found was also ordered. The suspects were brought before an investigating judge on Saturday 12 September 2026.
