Also just before midnight on Saturday, police were called to Schumanns Eck, where two people said they felt threatened by another man. Police found all three people at the scene. According to initial findings, the three individuals - who had been driving their respective cars between Pommerloch and Schumanns Eck - had previously engaged in dangerous driving manoeuvres, including deliberately braking and driving too closely behind one another.
During the roadside check, it was found that one of the three drivers was under the influence of alcohol, and his driving licence was therefore confiscated. Appointments were arranged with the other two drivers for the purpose of filing a complaint.
At around 01:00 on Sunday 4 October, a driver of a delivery van crossed into the oncoming lane and then entered the roadside ditch between Goeblange and Simmerschmelz, where he collided with a tree. The driver was uninjured. During the check, it was determined that he had been driving under the influence of alcohol. His driving licence was therefore confiscated and a report was filed.
Moreover, at around 04:00 police were informed of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road with its engine running. At the scene, police found the driver asleep behind the wheel. The alcohol test was positive, as was the drug test. Small quantities of drugs and drug paraphernalia were also found in the vehicle and subsequently seized. The driver’s licence was confiscated, and reports were filed for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
