More than 860 participants gathered at Echternach Lake on Sunday 12 October 2025 for this year's edition of Race for the Cure Luxembourg.
The organisers, Think Pink Luxembourg, have described the event as "a morning filled with solidarity, strength and support to those affected by breast cancer". They noted that the lake once again became "a vibrant sea of pink as runners, walkers, survivors, families and friends united for a common cause: raising awareness and support for breast cancer prevention and care."
"It was a cold morning, but the warmth and energy of the crowd made it unforgettable," said Freda Deed, board member of Think Pink Luxembourg. "Every single person who showed up helped send a powerful message of hope, courage and community."
A 3-kilometre circuit around the lake - completed as many times as participants wished -attracted people of all ages and fitness levels. "Laughter, music and shared purpose carried the morning forward as runners, joggers, walkers and four-legged friends crossed the finish line - not racing for time, but racing to find a cure for breast cancer," the organisers added.
Race for the Cure is Europe's largest breast cancer awareness event, taking place in various countries and cities throughout the year. Funds raised in Luxembourg go directly toward supporting Think Pink Luxembourg's Marian Aldred Award, which supports breast cancer research at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH).
"With thanks to the generosity of our community, and with donations still coming in, the event has so far raised almost €30,000 for cancer research," said Carrie Cannon, Director and founder of Think Pink Luxembourg.
The non-profit organisation has thanked the volunteers, sponsors and participants who made this year's race "a resounding success".
